Aardroos
(Added to iSpot on 30th August 2012)
Growing on the roots of Protea- and Leucadendron-dominant fynbos, forgot to check exact species but can go back! Wholly parasitic.
Location: Jean's Hill, Kleinmond
Other observations of Aardroos (Mystropetalon thomii)

Sorry - its a western Cape
Sorry - its a western Cape thing: best place to see it is the shale band above Kleinmond (Fairy Glen).
Flowering
When I did my data collection in 1982 it flowered March to July.
But I suspect that it flowers after heavy rains rather than any season.
I thought so
I thought I had seen it here last winter, in the same area along the zig-zag just under Jean's Hill. I can remember clearly how very wet everything was, it must have been June/July.
Fascinating
I've never seen that before
