Description: This lone female has been evicted from the main family group. We saw her about a year ago just inside the northern boundary fence of the reserve at Scarborough, when the large scar on her left hindquarter was a massive gaping flesh wound. One of the TMNP rangers surmised that she'd been in a fight with another female. It looks as if part of the wound has re-opened, but she didn't seem bothered by it. This was a wonderful close encounter very close to Sirkelsvlei.

Description: Must be the wild horses who live in this vlei. If I am not mistaken we have here in Kleinmond the only herd of truly wild horses found in SA. At least, that's what they say in their tourist brochures.

Description: Originated in the grasslands and Steppes of Eurasia and transported worldwide by humans. These are possibly the descendents of those that evaded the roundup of work horses in 1960s and 1970s or descendants of horses by British or Boer forces or ... The skeleton looks like an old horse (teeth) that maybe got caught in the fence or maybe just died of old age.
