This dude about 90 cm tall, moved in from a neighbor to eat our fallen fruit. Ferocious, chased our dogs all the time. He was recaptured by the owner in a pool of the river where he went to cool down from the heat. We last saw him dragging three men over the ridge squealing like hell. His mate got pregnant and escaped to give birth to 15 piglets and I believee one of the neighbors further up the river shot all 15, popped them in his freezer and had piglets for the next 15 Christmases. Hope he had enough apples.

The young piglets were disturbing the the ecology badly as they dig the riverine bush up like crazy and then weeds move in.

:)

Sus scrofa. Sounds more like a Sussed scrotum to fire off 15 piglets in one batch ;)

Nice Pictures

I've never seen one of these beasts. Lucky you. Reminds me of Asterix and Obelix

He was a bad-tempered sod...

and took over the garden for 2 weeks. They can disembowel humans so we stayed clear. He didn't like the lawn mower and we would get our own back on him by terrorizing him with it.

They have apparently escaped near Stellenbosh too.

Lawnmower will remove the weeds!

At least that is what I presume Dolichopentas; the Rubiaceae plant is. How did Sus scrofa become a child member of Dolichopentas? Mammalia | Artiodactyla |Suidae| Sus scrofa
