Willowy shrub or tree to 8 m. Leaves sessile, discolorous, lanceolate, margins crenate, base auriculate. Flowers in terminal paniculate cymes, tubular with anthers included, white to purple with orange throat.

This was growing on the side of the railway line in a mixture of Fynbos/afro-temperate forest. The leaves were distinctly deformed. We think this must be because of the diesel fumes from the Power Van which goes up there several times a day. Comments?

Location: Railway Line above the Montagu Pass in the Outeniquas
