FisHistory and FishForLife

Fishistory aims to collect images showing recreational catches and fishers prior to approximately 1970.

This is important as this period is prior to the widespread use of beach driving (which increased access) and the recreational skiboat fishery.

This will support improved assessment and user understanding of changes in recreational fishing through the development of historical baselines.

Fishistory is part of WWF South Africa's new FishforLife project to encourage the estimated 800 000 recreational fishers/anglers in South Africa to participate in conservation research.
