Description: Leaves almost circular base of leaf goes round petiole. 5 leaf veins radiate from the top of the petiole. Petals white when young light brown when older. Bottom interior of flower red. Flowers hang down. (sepals 5)

Description: Wonderful sight of trees completely covered in flowers.
Spring is in the air.
Flower 15mm.
Umbel 50-70mm, about 8 flowers
Inflorescence has number of Umbels.
Leaves in spiral up stem. Round (70mm), stalk 20mm, edges wavy.
Grows on the Umngeni gorge edge. Hard sometimes to reach.
Many specimens in full flower, no new leaves yet.
Trees 3 - 5m est.
van Wyks have it in Baobab group(39)

Description: I realise common names are useless for plants, but I've always known Dombeyas as Wild Pears. See eg. Richard Boon, Pooley's Trees of Eastern SA, 2010 p356. He calls it "Silver Dombeya/Wild-pear". Whence the dictionary's Lucky-Bean? Blue?
