Description: metallic fly caught by Tropical Tent Spider. (note: the small bright red spot which appears at the base of the fly's wing in the first photo is the result of an annoying speck of dirt inside my camera/lens)

Description: Clearly a fly. A wasp mimic? Constantly moved its wings back and forth in horizontal plane about twice per second. Less shy of human (camera) intrusion than Blowflies, but shot off briefly when aggressive Blow and Flesh-flies landed too close. Only fed on wet parts of fresh (5 minute old) dog dung. Older, hardened piles showed no evidence of this species. Spent most of its time a little way off the dung, wandering aimlessly doing its wing-flexes, then flying or climbing over the dung to get to the wet parts.

Description: attracted to house lights. Is this fly hairy enough for a Trachnid? It was not very active, just moving a couple of cms if disturbed and settling down again
