Hmm, not Oxalis purpurea. Tiny little bulb... I dug up five of them, each time just getting the little bulbs thinking the big one must have broken off. Epidermal swelling on abaxial leaf surface which is folded in. Inside the leaf it might have fine hairs.. just too small to say for sure. Standing water has masses of Oxalis versicolor as the gradient changes into more sandy, less water these take over in masses.

The flower may be purpurea-like, but the leaves are all wrong.

Its amazing how many species you find when you really stop and look. Currently I have 14 confirmed species of Oxalis and possibly O. levis which grows right on the border with us.
