Description: Can grow up to 3M tall and form dense colonies. Totally swamps indigenous vegetation. Kenyan farmers have found value as a green manure. AKA Tree Marigold.

Leisure Bay Beach Walk
Environment. On the beach front, but also seen cultivated and coastal bush margins. Abundant.
Plant. Low bush, 150mm high. Stalks brown.
Leaves. Toothed, 50 by 20mm. Mildly hairy.
Inflorescence. Single flower at end of a slightly hairy peduncle.
Flowers. 350mm diameter, orange ray and discoid florets.
Bracts. Two rows, large about half ray florets.

Description: Exotic annual (sometimes called the South African Daisy) from central Americas. I'm pretty sure about the species, but the variety choice is based only on distribution in Plants of SA 2003. Found growing in sandy soils near Acacia erioloba trees - generally colonises disturbed soils.
