Oxalis glabra

Thank you Kenneth, you have been a great help!
Is there any literature available on the African Oxalis sp.
I feel so "stupid" when it comes to Oxalis !!
Really difficult to start identifying things without any sort of reference books.

Literature is difficult to get at...

Salter's (1944) monograph is out of print, so the only source for this is herbaria I'm afraid.

Some of the local field guides are quite good (MMK on the Cape Peninsula, John Manning's Fynbos field guide, Annelise le Roux's Namaqualand guide), but only have a subset of species. The Fernkloof Nature Reserve website has a list of local Oxalis with photos, which is also good. The only other literature are recently published papers, but, with the exception of new species descriptions, these don't help with ID.

iSpot is very useful if you suspect a species name, and want to confirm it, but if you are clueless, not so much :P

We are busy trying to put together a field guide to Oxalis, giving brief descriptions, photos etc. (something along the lines of Tony's SASOL Proteas), but this has to take second place to post-doc I'm afraid.

Oxalis field guide

Hi Kenneth,
This yet-to-be published book is now on my wish list. I am happy to contribute images of the relatively few species from our area if that will help!

Graham Grieve

Thanks Graham!

Greatly appreciate the offer. I'm pretty certain a rash of "can we use your photos" posts will appear on iSpot when that time comes!
