Description: 9/10/13: Collected some of the eggs and will rear as best I can... Apparently they like Acacia karroo, which is easy peasy?! 29/10/13: Twenty days to hatching. Little black pillars with white afros. {They hatched, they hatched!!} 08/11/13: First moult (instar 2). Slightly larger (obviously) with an orange blush. Pic 10942 shows the exuvium (is that the right word?) which looks like half a caterpillar. 14/11/13: Second moult (instar 3). Much larger with bright orange bristles and a walrus moustache. 23/11/13: Third moult (instar 4).

Description: Distribution of this moth seems to be Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Zimbabwe (www.africanmoths.com); Or as Riaan Stals put it "from W Cape to Zimbabwe". Does this mean any type of area (e.g. coastal, mountainous) between the south and north of this distribution area?

Description: Barred eggarlet in uncharacteristic resting position. Hermann tells me moths rest in this position when they're parked and not intending to leave anytime soon. The wings come down when they're ready to fly.
