Burrowing blind thread legless skinksnake - Montagu WCape
By: Marion MacleanMarion Maclean's reputation in Amphibians and ReptilesMarion Maclean's reputation in Amphibians and ReptilesMarion Maclean's reputation in Amphibians and Reptiles
Location: Pietersfontein, Montagu WCape
Observed on: 28th January 2013
Added to iSpot: 17th March 2013
Likely ID: Delalandes Beak Blindsnake (Rhinotyphlops lalandei)
Identifications: 2
Agreements: 4
Comments: 7
Description: Headless due to the feline eating attitude which is to treat it as spaghetti (the rest was eaten after the photo opportunity). Don't know what other info I can give to help ID, except that it was strangely slimy (which came as a rather rude surprise), perhaps they need lubrication to burrow through soil? Perhaps this is where the old wive's tale of snakes being slimy comes from?

Description: Bee-utiful damsel with glowing eyes and many red passengers. Trapped on the inside of a window. With a wasp (who was buzzing around so much I didn't bother trying to take a pic). The wasp was black with orange legs, about 10 mm long (looked like a pompilid), but could it have been the egg-layer? I only saw the eggs when reviewing the photos, otherwise would have taken more note of the wasp (damn).
